Oughtrington Community Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This means that we have a Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place, which we refer to in our prospectus and staff handbook. Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy on request or on our website.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
Our designated Leader for Safeguarding is:
The Headteacher (Miss Marsland)
Our Deputy Safeguarding Leaders are:
The Deputy Headteachers (Miss Smith and Mrs Paddock)
We also have a Designated Governor for Safeguarding
And our Single Central Record (SCR) Manager is:
The Headteacher’s PA.
All staff undertake safeguarding training on appointment and this is renewed at least every 3 years.
Designated Senior Leaders are required to repeat training annually and update on specific aspects of safeguarding on a regular basis.

- Child Protection and Safeguarding
- Intimate Care
- Managing allegations of Abuse against staff
