School Ethos and Values
“Aspiring to Greater Heights”
Oughtrington Primary School is a dynamic learning community where both children and adults share a commitment to bringing our school motto of 'Aspiring to Greater Heights' to life each day. Our school ethos is to place the children at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about inspiring and developing an enthusiasm for learning in all of our pupils. We seek to engage children, to challenge them academically and to help them to develop as a whole person. Our aim is to build children’s substantive and disciplinary knowledge within subjects, which enables the children to know and remember more.
We place emphasis upon developing a love of reading. This key skill is essential to enable children to reach their full potential and to develop their imaginations whilst accessing our curriculum. This starts in the first days of Reception and continues throughout all year groups.
We aim to equip our pupils to be able to face the challenges of our future, in a rapidly changing global society. In our classrooms, we provide high quality teaching and learning opportunities, which are sensitive to individual needs, in a safe, caring, supportive and stimulating environment. We offer opportunities to take risks in learning and aim to foster a lifelong love of learning.
At Oughtrington, we are all encouraged to develop emotional intelligence and self-expression. Our school values of respect, responsibility, resilience, kindness, aspiration and creativity are an integral part of our curriculum. Children are given many opportunities to contribute positively to society. In partnership with parents, carers and the wider community we work towards making everyone’s time at Oughtrington Primary School a valuable learning experience.
